Hi LinkedIn Community,I'm excited to share two pieces of news! For the past academic year, I had the privilege of being the President and Co-Founder of the Illinois Semiconductor Student Alliance (ISSA). After interning at Micron Technology in summer 2023, Tao-Jung Lee and I realized the talent shortage in the semiconductor industry. We noticed a gap between industry needs and student awareness, especially among non-ECE/MatSE majors.Together with Dika Prasetya, Kyungyeon (Claudia) Lee, Kathure Kiunga, Ayush Jain, and Andrew Lum, we launched ISSA. Our mission is to make semiconductors appealing to a diverse group of engineering students and bridge the gap between industry and students. Our goal is to establish Semiconductor Student Alliance (SSA) and start chapters in many other universities, creating a network of resources and connections. We've grown our UIUC community to about 100 students and helped Purdue (Ethan Baird) and OSU (Brady Kinsman) start their own chapters. We're inviting all students interested in semiconductors to join us in starting chapters at your schools. Together, we can elevate the semiconductor industry to greater heights and bring students to attention of the vast amounts of career opportunities. Please reach out if you're interested in starting a chapter!Corporate relations are of utmost importance to us, and we are fortunate to work with various innovative semiconductor companies. Specifically, I am thankful for Intel’s support and Jessica Voss‘s trust in us to organize events with them. Thus, we are also inviting university relations team from any semiconductor companies to connect and discuss future collaborations.ISSA’s founding has also received much support from UIUC faculty members and I am immensely grateful for Dean of Engineering College, Rashid Bashir, and Professor shaloo rakheja for their guidance. In addition, I would also like to give a special mention to Dean of Berkeley Engineering, Tsu-Jae Liu, for the inspiration and her time for a call to reaffirm our idea before we started ISSA. Moving on, I’m proud to announce my graduation from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering. I’m also thrilled to announce my commitment to study Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. I’m grateful to my research advisors, John Dallesasse and Peter Dragic, and everyone who supported me throughout my undergraduate studies. Go Illini and Cardinals!#Semiconductors #Engineering #TechInnovation #StudentInitiatives #ISSA #IllinoisSemiconductorStudentAlliance #STEM #TechCareers #EngineeringStudents #UniversityLife #CareerOpportunities #TechEducation #DiversityInTech #IndustryCollaboration #Innovation #ElectricalEngineering #ComputerEngineering #MaterialScience #STEMEducation #TechIndustry #StudentLeadership #UIUC #Stanford #Research #Graduation
